RULES AND REGULATION

General Disciplinary Regulations

1. Grievance Redressal : Students have the right to address their grievances individually to the college authorities. However, organizing or participating in strikes or protests within the college or hostels will result in severe disciplinary action by the disciplinary committee, whose decision will be final.

2.Criminal Cases : Students with pending criminal cases will be suspended until they are acquitted. Convicted students will not be allowed to continue their studies in the college.

3.Ragging Prohibition : Ragging within or outside the institution is strictly prohibited by law. Any involvement in ragging activities will result in immediate dismissal from the college (Refer to Annexure).

4.Anti-Ragging Measures : First-year students will receive secret helpline numbers to report ragging incidents. Complaints will be promptly investigated by the Disciplinary Committee, which will take decisive action upon confirmation of the complaint.

5.Disciplinary Committee : Attendance of students and their parents is mandatory for any disciplinary inquiry. Failure to attend or cooperate will result in decisions being made in absentia, with no opportunity for further appeal.

6.External Authorities : Students approaching external authorities, including the police, to resolve internal issues will be suspended until the matter is resolved. College authorities will only engage with students or their parents when addressing student issues.

Internal Tests

1. As per Anna University, Tirunelveli's directives, our college administers a series of tests known as Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) for students. These tests contribute 20% to the total marks for each paper. The assessments are conducted as follows:

- Internal Assessment Test 1
- Internal Assessment Test 2

Students' internal assessment marks are allocated based entirely on their performance in these tests.

Rules and Regulations Governing Internal Tests

1. Compulsory Attendance : Every test is mandatory for all students.

2.No Leave on Test Days : Leave will not be granted on the days of internal tests.

3.Malpractice : Any form of malpractice during internal tests, such as copying, will result in disciplinary action. The nature of the penalty will be determined by the Disciplinary Committee, and its decision will be final.

4.No Retest Policy : Retests are not permitted under any circumstances.

5.Return of Answer Papers : Answer papers will be returned to students three days after each test session. Every student is responsible for maintaining a file containing the question papers and corrected answer sheets.

6.Communication with Parents : Marks obtained in each test will be communicated to the parents.

7.Communication with Parents : Students who consistently underperform must attend remedial classes.

Attendance

1. Application for Leave : Every test is mandatory for all students.

2.Regular Attendance : Regular attendance at all classes is mandatory in this college.

3.Attendance Marking : Staff members shall mark attendance at the beginning of each period.

4.No Retest Policy : Retests are not permitted under any circumstances.

5.Late Entry : Students will not be permitted inside the college after classes begin. A ten-minute grace period will be granted only on test days.

6.Consequences of Absence :

  • A student who is not present when attendance is taken will be marked absent.
  • If a student is absent for even one hour, he/she will lose attendance for the entire day.
7.Reporting of Absence : If a student is absent without leave, the absence will be immediately reported to his/her parents or hostel warden, and disciplinary action will be taken.

8.Continuous Absence : If a student is absent for more than three consecutive days without prior intimation, his/her name will be removed from the rolls without notice. Re-admission will be permitted only once per semester in such cases.

9.Verification of Attendance : On the 5th of every month, students should check the consolidated absentee list on the notice board. Any discrepancies should be rectified by informing the Head of Department (HOD) through the respective class counselor.

10.Attendance Requirement :
  • Students maintaining less than 80% attendance as per the monthly consolidated report will be required to bring their parents to meet the college authorities.
  • Students who do not achieve 75% attendance by the end of the semester will not be permitted to appear for the semester examinations as per Anna University regulations.

Applying for Leave

1.Leave Application Procedure :

  • Students requiring leave must fill out the prescribed application form in advance.
  • The application should be submitted to the Principal through the Head of Department (HOD) and must be countersigned by the class counselor.
  • The application must clearly state the reason for leave and must be signed by the student and either their parent/guardian or warden.
2.Leave on Test Days :
  • No leave will be sanctioned on test days.
  • Students absent on test days must bring one of their parents to the college.
  • They will only be allowed to enter the class if the reason for absence is genuine and accepted by the college authorities.
3.Leave and Holidays : Students are not allowed to prefix, or suffix leave to existing holidays.

4.Medical Leave :
  • In case of illness lasting three days or more, students must submit a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
  • The medical certificate must be presented on the date of returning to classes.
5.Disciplinary Actions :
  • Students guilty of assault or attempted assault on staff or fellow students in the college or hostels will face expulsion from the institution.
  • Violations of co-education rules, including acts of indecency towards the opposite sex, will be strictly punished.
6.Repeated Medical Leave : Students will not be permitted to take medical leave repeatedly.

7.Malpractice in Medical Leave : Any misuse or malpractice related to medical leave will result in severe punishment.

Dress Code

1.General Dress Code :

  • All students must adhere to decent and appropriate attire while on campus.
  • Men students are prohibited from wearing round-necked T-shirts with images, icons, or words.
  • Jeans with multiple pockets and hangings are also not allowed for men.
  • Women students are expected to wear chudidhars and sarees only.
2.Footwear : Both men and women students are required to wear shoes while on campus.

3.Lab Attire :
  • First-year students must wear white coats during laboratory hours.
  • In the second, third, and fourth years, students should wear the prescribed uniforms during laboratory sessions.
4.ID Cards : Wearing ID cards is mandatory for all students when they are inside the campus premises.

General Code of Conduct

1.Adherence to College Timings : Students must strictly adhere to the college timings as specified.

2.Discipline in Meetings and Functions : Maintaining discipline during meetings and functions is mandatory for all students.

3.Punctuality : Students must be seated in their respective classrooms 5 minutes before every session starts.

4.Campus Etiquette : Loitering on campus or lingering in the canteen during class hours is strictly prohibited.

5.Gate Pass Requirement : No student can leave campus during working hours without getting a valid gate pass from the principal.

6.Compulsory Attendance : Attendance is compulsory for all functions organized within the campus.

7.Vehicle Entry Prohibition : Entry of students on two-wheelers or four-wheelers inside the campus is not permitted.

8.Address and Contact Information Updates : Students must promptly inform their class counselor about any changes in the address or contact number of their parents or guardians.

9.Certificate Requests : Students can obtain certificates, such as Bonafide certificates, by submitting a requisition letter and paying Rs. 15 at the college office.

10.Behavioral Expectations : Students are expected to maintain courteous behavior in their interactions with the staff and fellow students.
