Built Up Area

Infant Jesus College of Engineering has got approximately 4,00,000 sq. ft. of built up area with separate blocks for each department. Located at the foothills of the Vallanadu hills, our institution offers an excellent learning ambience.

Child Jesus Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 42,175 sq. ft. Apart from most of the administrative offices, the Department of Management housed in this block.

Loyola Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 39,891 sq. ft. houses the Principal’s office, the Departments of Science & Humanities and Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

St. Antony's Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 27,875 sq. ft. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is housed in this block.

Little Flower Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 21,283 sq. ft. house the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

St. Mother Theresa Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 27,875 sq. ft. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is housed in this block.

St. Stephen Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 27,875 sq. ft. The Department of Information Technology is housed in this block.

St. Paul's Block

The built up area of this single storied block is 16,585 sq. ft. The Central Computer Center and the Library function in ground floor and the first floor respectively.

Aeronautical Block

The built up area of this single storied block is 16,851 sq. ft. The Department of Aeronautical Engineering is housed in this block.

Utility Block

The built up area of this two storied block is 20,030 sq. ft. The canteen is housed in the ground floor and the Girls’ Common Room, Boys’ Common Room and Guest Rooms are housed in the first floor. The amphitheater is housed in the second Floor.


There are six workshops located in six separate blocks with a total built-in area of 29,165 sq. ft. The heavy machineries used by the Department of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Electrical Engineering for the conduct of practical sessions and experimentation are placed here.

St. Joseph's Hostel

The built up area of this two storied block is 72,846 sq. ft. This contains the student accommodation rooms, rest rooms, mess hall, recreation room and a Gym. This block can accommodate 400 inmates.

St. Mary's Hostel

The built up area of this two storied block is 36,500 sq. ft. This contains the student accommodation rooms, rest rooms, mess hall, recreation room and a study room.

Back-up Power

The college provides uninterrupted power supply to all its laboratories and class rooms with two generators of 125 KV and 62.5 KV respectively.

Seminar Halls

The college has aesthetically designed seminar halls with state-of-the-art acoustic and electronic accessories necessary to make seminars and performances more lively and technical presentations more resourceful.

Campus Health Centre

Part time medical officers, a female and a male doctor, visit the college at specified times and on emergency to offer medical consultations to the students. Also, the college has tie-up with a leading multi-specialty hospital at Tirunelveli for providing world-class medical care to the hostellers.

Girls Waiting Room

The college has well-furnished waiting halls for girl students located in the Main Block and respective departmental blocks.

Smart Class Rooms

The Lecture halls in the respective departments are fitted with state-of-the-art electronic gadgets, acoustics and LCD monitors for making the class room interaction more dynamic and student-centered.

Central Computing Centre & Material Production Unit

Every department is furnished with modern computer labs, each having 72 terminals. Apart from these, there is a central computing centre consisting of 300 terminals each with 8 Mbps Internet connectivity having firewall security. This has become a vital hub for both students and the staff involved in learning and researching activity. This centre also houses the material production unit manned by the English faculty. The college has provided separate username and password for all the faculty member and students. At a time, over 1000 users can access the Internet.


There is a canteen in the campus which functions on all working days. Beverages, snacks and meals of good quality are provided. However, students are advised to go to the canteen only during the intervals and lunch break.

STD Booths

STD facility is provided in both the hostels. Local dialing can be done at the coin-box phone kiosks at the entrance of the college, inside the college campus and in the college hostels.


An ATM has been installed at the entrance to the college, to facilitate ease of withdrawal for both staff and students.


The College has a well-furnished gym located on the first floor of the men’s hostel premises. It is open for the users in the morning and evening on all days.


The college has a sprawling main playground for promoting sports and games. There are also well maintained playgrounds in the quadrangles of both the hostels.


Our library is the heart of our academic activities in the campus. It has over 28,610 books and over 82 national and 68 international journals are being subscribed to. Apart from this, the college subscribes to more than 250 journals online. All the latest standard publications on the different engineering subjects are also added every year. The digital library attached to the reference section has more than 1000 interactive CDs with 10 learner terminals. The library is kept open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on all working days. The books are bar-coded and the functioning of the library is fully computerized with the latest library automation software. Books can be borrowed from the library on production of valid user ID cards.

Library Information

The library, a veritable treasure house of books, periodicals and digital resources, is a centre of intellectual activity in our institution. The Central Library built over an area of 10,000 sq. ft. has a computerized book lending desk and documentation area. This ever growing library has nearly 32,000 books and includes many rare titles as well. The library subscribes to 30 periodicals, 91 national journals and 68 international journals (both published in print and online). Besides, the library has 300 bound volumes of previous journal volumes and a separate reading area.

The Central library has special services like Reprography Service, IEEE Student Branch Library etc. The other services provided by the library include Lending, Reference service, Inter Library Loan and Internet Browsing.

A separate Digital Knowledge Centre has been established in order to enable the users to browse the e-journals, e-learning materials and other digital library collections.

There are separate hostels for men and women students inside the campus. The men's hostel can accommodate around 400 students and the women's hostel has capacity for 300 students. The hostels are governed by a separate set of rules and regulations, which are enforced very strictly. Each hostel is supervised by a warden and deputy wardens. The following are some of the salient features our hostels.

  • Nutritious and high quality vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
  • Facilities for out-door and indoor games, including audio visual facility.
  • Gym facilities
  • 24-hour high speed Internet connectivity
  • Reading room with magazines and newspapers
  • Phone facilities
  • Medical facility
  • Transport for weekly religious services.

Rules Governing the Hostellers

Students who do not attend classes regularly and those who have too many arrears will not be allowed to remain in the hostel. The hostel is a home away from home and every student in the hostel should strive to create an atmosphere of peace, harmony and goodwill in the hostel.

Students suffering from respiratory disorders, renal problems, any other chronic illness or diseases requiring surgical corrections will not be allowed to stay in the hostel. They have to stay with their parents and come to college as Day scholars.

The hostel students who are involved in the following activities shall be expelled from the Hostel.

  • Wasting food, water and electricity.
  • Damaging furniture, switch boards, water taps and other facilities.
  • Consuming liquor inside the rooms.
  • Physically assaulting other students.
  • Ragging other students.
  • Insubordination to the Wardens and other college authorities.

Students who join the hostel are expected to remain in the hostel till the entire course is completed. However, this is not applicable to those who are asked to vacate the hostel for gross misbehavior.
