RULES AND REGULATION

  • Every student has freedom to get his/her grievance redressed by approaching the authorities concerned in the college individually. However those who organize, incite, lead, mastermind or participate in strikes and open protests in the college or the hostels will be severely dealt with. Such students will be called to appear before the disciplinary committee and in this regard, the decision of the committee is final.
  • If a student has a criminal case pending in the court, he/she will be kept under suspension till he/she is acquitted in the case.
  • Students who have been convicted of any offence in a criminal court will not be allowed to continue their studies in the college.
  • Ragging within or outside any educational institution is prohibited by the court of law. Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates ragging within or outside the institution, shall be summarily dismissed from the college. (Refer to the Annexure given at the end).
  • The first year students of this college will be given secret helpline numbers to contact in case of he / she being subjected to ragging. If any student complains of ragging to the Head of an Educational Institution or to any other person responsible for management of the Educational Institution, the matter will be referred to the Disciplinary committee which, without prejudice, shall enquire into the matter immediately, and if found true, shall take severe disciplinary action. The decision of the disciplinary committee shall be final in this matter.
  • Unconditional compliance is expected whenever a student is called to appear before the Disciplinary committee with his/her parents for an enquiry. In case of their absence or non-cooperation for an unbiased enquiry , the case will be decided in absentia, and no claim for reappearance will be entertained.
  • If any students approaches the police or any other authorities to settle the internal issues he/she shall be suspended from the college till the issue is settled. While dealing with issues concerning the students, the Principal or the college authorities or obliged to meet only the students or their parents.

As per the directions of the Anna University, Tirunelveli, this college conducts a series of tests for the continuous internal assessment (CIA) of the students, which carry 20% of their total marks in each paper

The award of internal assessment mark to the students is strictly based on their performance in these tests.

  • Every Test is compulsory for the students.
  • No leave will be sanctioned on test days.
  • Any malpractice such as copying in the internal tests will invite disciplinary action. The nature of penalty will be decided by the Disciplinary Committee and its decision is final.
  • No retest is allowed.
  • Students will receive their answer papers corrected on the third day after the end of that schedule of tests. Every student is expected to maintain a file of the Question papers and the corrected answer sheets.
  • Marks will be sent to the parents after every test.
  • Consistent non-performers will have to undergo remedial classes.
  • No student shall absent himself / herself from classes without prior application for leave.
  • Regular attendance at all classes is insisted upon in this college.

  • The staff members shall mark attendance at the beginning of each period.
  • Students will not be allowed inside the college after the classes begin. A ten- minute grace time will be given only on test days.
  • A student who is not in the class when attendance is taken shall be marked absent. If a student absents himself even for one hour he/she shall lose attendance for the entire day.
  • If the student is absent without leave, his/her absence will immediately be reported to his parents or to his/her hostel warden and disciplinary action will be taken.
  • If a student is absent for more than three consecutive days, his/her name shall be removed from the rolls without any notice. In such cases only one re-admission per semester is permitted.
  • On the 5th of every month, the students should look at the consolidated absentee list put up on the notice board. If anyone is marked absent by mistake, he/she should immediately rectify it by referring the matter to the HOD through the respective class counselor.
  • Those who maintain less than 80% attendance as per the monthly consolidated report will be required to bring their parents and meet the college authorities.
  • Those who do not have 75% attendance at the end of the semester will not be allowed to appear for the semester examination as per Anna University regulations.
  • A student requiring leave must apply for it in the prescribed application form in advance to the Principal through the HOD and countersigned by the class counselor. The application must state the reason clearly and be signed by the student and his/her parent/guardian / warden.
  • No leave will be sanctioned on test days. Students absenting themselves on test days will be required to bring one of their parents to the college and will be allowed inside the class only if the reason for the absence is found genuine.
  • Students will not be allowed to prefix or suffix leave to the existing holidays.
  • In case of illness, if the absence lasts for three days or more, the absentees shall submit a medical certificate obtained from registered medical practitioners. The medical certificate should be produced on the date of joining, before entering the classes.
  • Students who are guilty of assault or attempt to assault staff or fellow students of the college or hostels will be expelled from the institution.
  • Violation of co-education rules of the college will be strictly dealt with, and the students involved in any act of indecency towards the opposite sex will invite stringent punishment.
  • A student will not be allowed to go on medical leave repeatedly.
  • Any malpractice in respect of medical leave will invite severe punishment
  • All students are expected to come to the college decently dressed. Men students are prohibited from wearing round-necked T-Shirts with images, icons and words, jeans with multi pockets and hangings. Women students are expected to wear chudidhars and sarees only.
  • Both men and women students should wear shoes.
  • All the first year students should wear white coats during the laboratory hours.
  • During the laboratory hours in the II, III and IV year, the students should wear the prescribed uniforms.
  • Wearing ID cards is mandatory for all the students when they are inside the campus.
  • Students should adhere to the college timings.
  • Students should maintain discipline during meetings and functions.
  • Students are expected to be in their seats 5 minutes before the sessions begin.
  • Students should not be found loitering in the campus or sitting in the canteen during class hours.
  • Students are not permitted to leave the campus during working hours without a valid gate pass obtained from the Principal.
  • Attendance is compulsory for all the functions in the campus.
  • Entry of students on two-wheelers / four wheelers inside the campus is prohibited.
  • Students are not allowed to bring their friends and relatives or entertain them inside the campus.
  • Students are strictly advised to bring to the attention of the class counselor any change in the address or contact number of their parents / guardians immediately. Failure to do this is considered an offence.
  • Students who want to get certificates (such as bonafide certificate) from the college can get by submitting a requisition letter and paying Rs. 15 in the college office.
  • Students are expected to be courteous in speech and actions in their contact with the staff and the fellow students.
